JL, Infinity, or MTX?
JL, Infinity, or MTX?
The time has come for new 12s. If I could get opinions on some subs it would be great. What I am currently looking at are JL12W3s, Infinity Perfect 12.1, and MTX 8000 Series. What are your thoughts? I'm gonna be pushing them with a Phoenix Gold XS-2500.

You need to add more options to that list dude.. .. JL.. thumbs down.. Old outdated technology. Of the 3 options the perfects would be my choice in a ported enclosure.. But for the same price range there's a few great subs too. What do you want really.. DEEP bass. LOUD bass.. Sweet sounding.. a Combo of all of those?...How about going with 1 Single Very high quality 12" sub.. Like an IDMAX, and Audiomobile MASS, an Eclipse aluminum...an Orion XTR Pro..or if you want a pair in the price anges as the JL's and Infinities.. audiomobile EVO's..
There's more I can think of.. but of the 3 you listed.. I woldn't touch the MTX.. the JL 12w3 is a good choice... as is the Infinity Perfect. But for the same Price the Audiomobile EVO blows them both out of the water in both sound quality and sheer SPL.. 1 IDMAX would be as loud as a pair of 12W3's and play lower and sound better.....So Many options... Okay so I like to boraden peoples Ideas..

mohawk, what are some good subs i can get for under $100... i dont care too much about quality of the sound just as long as it doesn't sound like @ss, but i want it to be LOUD. i got 2 12" sony explodes for $100 for both, they're supposed to be 200 RMS but they are way over rated... my dhd(ey i got it for $30 so dont hate) 600 watt amp pushes 80 watts at 4 ohms and if i bump it all the way, the coils start to burn. i mean come on, its only 80 watts pushing a sub thats supposed to be 200 RMS and 800 Peak.

1 IDMAX ehh? hmmmm. sounds like the choice for me, if the price is right. know any good places to get those? I'm also in Canada Mohawk. Even in Montreal. IF you know a really good deal, my dad live's there so he could grab it for me.
The 8000's in the right box will blow away the W3's, I have a trophy to prove that. Out of those, the Perfects definitely. But regardless, a sub is only as good as its box, that's what I wanted to add.

alright. well i've picked up another option. how about 4 JL 12W0s? I finally learned that I can't run my amp in 2 ohms as it isn't a class D, so the 8000s might be out of the question, unless i can get em in 2 ohm, because i want the extra power out of my amp if running in stereo. What I was told was that if i try to run my amp in 2 Ohms With the subs wired in parallel (sp?), my amp will cut out or it will blow a sub or two (both of which have happened to me, while trying to run in 2 ohm bridged). But something else interesting is that the 8000s are on sale right now for 200CDN a piece over a futureshop, which make's me lean toward them. Although my amp probably wouldn't push them very well... Sooo, how about that IDMAX?
Didn't read what you had written correctly, BUT 2 8ohm woofers in parallel are 4ohms, and the 8000's come in 8ohm. ALSO I am selling two 8000 12's, asking around $125 a piece american, if interested let me know, then all you need is 2 more.

Eclipse subs are great.. But with the New IDMAX and Audiomobile subs.. you get the same or better performance for less $$$.. Mind you I loved my Eclipse 87151's Only time I ever used 15's and I actually liked they're sound. The Eclipse alumninums are a tad overrated. They NEED alotta power to work properly..but the *700's ported can get quite a bit louder..
Other cheap sub for under $100
Phoenix Gold XS 12's.. Probably under $50 in the Us.. put one in 2.3cube with a 4"x9" port and you'll be loving it..

Well, I bought an 8000 (12" 4ohm), i just couldn't stand the lack of a subwoofer. I caved and went to futureshop, and bought it. $200CDN. Just one. Anyhow, I need to build a box for this, and I'm wondering if you could direct me on how to build a box such as the one stated above.
