I am looking at this amp. It seems to have a lot of good reviews and looks to be right around what I want power-wise. I don't have a sub now, and am not sure I ever will, but if I ever get one, it would probably be only a single 10". For only $40 more, I can get this amp. My concern is that the 5th channel on that amp is only 160w @ 4ohm. My understanding is that is not really enough to push a sub. What do you all think? Go for the 5-channel or save the money and pick up the 4-channel?

Only reason would be for convenience.. the sub channel wouldn't really have that much power at all. Enough to power a single 12 well enough bump..but not enough to boom

So that 120 RMS / 160 peak IS enough to power a single sub? I am not really looking to be flashy here, just good clean sound.

with 4 channel, u can hook up 2 channel to the interior, and then the other 2 bridge into ur sub, with 5 channel.. it's kinda hard, lightning audio does offer a 7 channel amp, which would be more convient then a 5 channel

yeah..120 Wrms is enough to power a single sub and get decent bump out of it. Most Serious Sound quality setups run 100-200Wrms to a sub..

Well, I ended up getting an Eclipse 36401 instead. It was a better amp (on paper at least) than the Alpine and it ended up being about $75 cheaper after install. I bought the Eclipse solely on the recommendation of the car stereo guy since I hadn't read anything about it. Hopefully I made the right choice.

Thanks for your help guys.
