Help with Alpine Component Crossover
Help with Alpine Component Crossover
I just purchased the Alpine 6.5 component speakers. My only problem is that I don't know where to mount the crossovers that came with the set. I need to screw them down so that they don't move around, obviously. But I really don't see any space in the door to mount them without conflicting with anything else.
I have already installed the set, but without the crossovers installed. The 6.5 's sound good, but the tweeters are distorted with any kind of high output.
Any help would be great.

Mine are behind the kick panels on either side of the car. Perfect spot for them, protected from the elements and pretty easy to access if needed (much easier than inside the door).
OMFG! Dont play those speakers w/o the crossover! U could kill the tweets w/o the xover. If they r receiving the midrange and bass singals (which it sounds like they r) they will blow cuz they r only meant to handle the highs.
I have mine behind the door panel. I used a backstrap (things used on the back of some CD player installs to hold them) and some velcro. Just bend the backstrap so that the x over is supported then put a piece of velcro on the backstrap and on the x over and then connect them. then just put a few screws into the backstrap to the metal on ur door. then u can hid it all behind the plastic insulation **** so that it will stay there even if the velcro breaks (which it wont) or a screw comes loose.

yeah, i heard the distortion when I originally started it up afterwards. I pretty much haven't used my stereo since, until I have the time to do it today. If they are damaged now, I still have the nice warranty coverage on them...
^mount them in the door with hot glue.
That is how the pros do it.
If you do not then you will have to mount the tweeter some where other than door and that can be a pain. Unless you wanna try to get wires through that door gromet, which is near impossible.
kicker easier than door panel, it takes like 2-3 minutes to get door panel off, and there is a perfect spot for them in the panel where they are safer.

i ended up putting them behind the kick panel on each side. I did run the wires through the grommet on the doors. It really wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. The trick is to disconnect the 2 plugs on each side underneath the dash. Then just remove the grommet and pull it through to the door. Then just use a long screwdriver and some tape to pull the wires through. Definetely took a bit longer, but completely worth it. You can't even tell its there, and its still easy access to the crossover. I'll try and post some pics to show you.
