Installing sub without amp?
I was jus wondering if I can just install a 10" sub without an amp directly to my HU, cause i'm not looking for crazy bass, jus a little to cover low-end sound. Would this work? Would the internal MOSFET 50wX4 be good enough from my pioneer DEH-p8600mp? If so, then would it just be a direct connection to the sub from the HU? thanks
u are better off buying a very crappy amp and running ur sub off of that cuz the deck will not be able to run ur sub at all... maybe make a few sounds but it'll ruin the sub in the end..

If you don't want a lot of bass, get some good 6X9's for your rears. Don't try to run a sub with your headunit. I tried it just to see what it would sound like. It sounded like crap, cause you hear all the mid's, and high's. Subs are meant to play low frenquency sounds, and amp can help out with that.
If your going to do it, do it right.

some post make me concerned. sometimes its worth not saving the 50dollars on the amp and paying another 30 for the install. i know not to try and put together my own turbo kit. i know this was just a question but this is a question you should ask the guys at your local car audio/alar/video shop. and no not everyone who works on your car is trying to rape you. some of them actually work there because they love it and know how to get what you are looking for as close to your budget as they can.

This is the worst question ever. Our stock head unit putts out about 7-8 watts per channel. Subs are meant to be powered in order to move the massive magnent. I agree if you only want a little bass just get some cheap 6 x 9's, but the sub idea is stupid. You would easily ruin any sub you tried to hook up and it would sound like crap, but thats just my opinion. This is coming from a guy that has about 600 watts a sub so dont feel insulted.
