Too much rattle
Too much rattle
hey guys, i was wondering if anyone here has a system with no rattle. I have done that diy on how to stop rattle; tighten the rubber dealys, move the trunk latch, etc... but i have also dynamatted a good deal of my trunk, the whole trunk lid, and i just took out the back panels and the rear deck. i have a 2 dr. it still has very noticable rattling. i can understand my radar detector rattling when its bouncing up and down, but even when i take it down there is rattling coming from the rear. did anyone find anything else they had to do to their car to stop rattling?
if anyone cares to know, i have a jvc hu, 6 1/2", and 6x9" planet audio speakers powered by an 800 watt soundstorm 4 channel amp, 2 12" audiobahn 1206t's powered by a 2000 watt rms hifonics brutus 2005d monoblock amp, 6 farad cap.

well, its probably best to try to pin point the rattles. play your music, and maybe sit in the back seat, maybe you can hear the rattle better from there and pin point it. for me, it was the rear dome light that rattled like a ****. wedged some foam between it and the roof (between the headliner basically) and it stopped. the seatbelt mechanism for the middle rear seat occupant also rattles, but i dont know what to do about that one without removing the entire seatbelt.
my spoiler also rattles, but i cant hear that inside the car so i dont care.
for the most part, depending on the volume, i cant hear my rattles much, so i dont care.

Read the sound deadening sticky...
Did you foam the trunk lid?
Did you isolate the plastic on the rear deck (ie the skin) from the metal frame underneath?
Did you foam teh gaps behind the wheel wells?
Did you isolate the tensioner rods on the trunk from vibrating against each other?
Did you read the whole sticky?

that sucks. i did get lucky this time around. my '96 rattled like crazy and i even had the dynamat done on that one. this time, i didn't even dynamat it and no rattles, except in the winter which is normal.
Hey, i have a 4dr and at first i thought it was my liscence plate. I took it off an it still rattled. So i started testing things out. First i followed the DIY with no luck. When i was looking around my trunk, i dont remembe what gave me the motivation but i decided to go out and buy 2 small towels and at the bottom where the trunk latch is, i put one on each side. This for some awkward reason stopped my rattling problems, and the good ol sock behind the 3rd brake light was the last fix and im rattle free. Good luck

Why does everyone think you can rattle proof a car. It is not going to happen. By applying dynamat you do greatly reduce the volume of the vibration, but unlimited coats will be able to stop rattles. I have my whole car triple layered and it still rattles when it is cranked or on bumpy roads. so stop asking the same question.
