Getting a little system

I don't know much about systems, but Im getting a little one for my 03. I want some bass but not too much so I'm looking at the regular pioneer 10" subs with maybe a 300 watt pioneer amp or a 800 watt interfire amp. I talked to this guy from a local shop and he said he would give me a regular 10" pioneer sub in a box...i forgot what kind, and a 300 watt pioneer amp + installation for $260. or if I got with the interfire amp it like $290 or something. I just want to know if its worth it. thanks.

suggestions

get one 2ohm alpine 12 inch type r off of etronics for like 100 bucks and an pretty much any 300watt rms mono 2 ohm amp off etronics as well, i would go with alpine, jbl, or jl audio. The boxes that you can buy usually suck, in fact I have not seen one that compare swith what you can make your self. It is very easy you just need 3/4 inch board, glue, saw, screws, and a couple of hours. Subs usually come with box specs, so just measure and cut, glue and then scew.

you can do better with $260-290.

alpine type-r 10" - $120?
premade sealed box - $50?
300watt amp - $100?

if you havent yet, i would do headunit and speakers first. IMO. but if you just want bass, go for it

$260 sounds really steep. pioneer is good. but you should change your headunit and speakers before you get the sub. i got 2 12" pioneer subs, 760 watt pioneer amp, and a box for $250. everything was brand new. just install the subs yourself. you can get a good install kit for about $25.

The price doesn't seem too bad, if it includes all the wiring kit stuff and everything, then it isn't such a bad deal. I'd make sure it won't cost anything else before buying it though.
