pioneer deh-p8500mp hu problem
i'm not sure if you guys are familiar with this deck, but when i flip down the face to expose the back screen, the whole unit turns off. it still plays whatever i was listening to (cd or radio) but the whole unit shuts off...no lights, no screens, controller doesn't work. none of the buttons work.
i have to resort to removing the whole front face to get it to go up, and then restick the front face on and push "open" while it's about to open all the way up.
anyone have some sort of recommendation on what i can troubleshoot? the unit runs perfectly fine if it's not opened up.
i'm sad

i'm sad I had the same model and a similar thing was happening, it would go all blank and all I could get was 680 news. The thing kept turning off not allowing my control, I think its a defective face plate since I never kept it in its case. After a week of being forced to listen to the same radio station I bought a new unit.

i've had it for a couple years now...never really took off the face, except in sketchy areas...got it off ebay...my friend's and i installed it, and it's worked fine up until a couple days ago
Damn I have the same deck too!!! But I had a different problem the screen would not open up any more (after a year) got it repaired by pionneer ($115). Wasn't under warranty got it off my buddy who stole it from Bestbuy got it for super cheap less than half price, and it was brand new in a factory sealed box! That deck is good but too many problems with it. Sometimes I start my car and it wont turn on and its no on button, I will never get another mtorized deck again too many things to go wrong!!!
