2 12" Subs vs 3 10" subs
Right know I have 2 12" Kenwoods subs and I was thinking about changing to 3 10" Alpine type R subs. I was wondering which subs do you think would be better 3 10" subs or 2 12" subs. Which sounds better 10" or 12".

yep. Much better subs overall.
I would even go with 2 10 inch Type R's over 12 inch kenwoods.
Defiantely get the 3 10s.
i agree as well. the 12" kenwoods dont come close to 3 alpine type-r 10"s
would you consider 2 12" type-rs ? dont have to buy a new box or make one
unless your strictly about sound quality

There is absolutely no possible to answer this without more information. What music do you listen to, what other equipment do you have? What are you looking to get out of the sound? You should check out my guid to posting - sticky at top. Answer these and I can help you.

any car will rattle with low notes/Fhz/tunes/etc comming from inside the car. even a 10" sub can rattle the **** out of your trunk. it varies A LOT (sub, watts, enclosure, old beater car has junky trunk in the first place so it rattles even more, etc)
reminded me of these people who automatically thinks you have a super sound system cause your trunk rattles like crazy
cant believe ppl who think just cause your trunk rattles and makes ugly sounds from the bass means you have a strong system

Amen....I mean it's all gonna boil down to personal preference really. I have found that 10's have a tighter bass response than 12's which make's them sound good for say "live" (music with real instruments) music like rock. Personally I listen to alot of rock music but I prefer the sound of 2 12's because I like the deep bass. (I not saying You can't get deep bass out of 10's, this is just my opinion) My suggestion would be to go into Best Buy, Circuit City, or Your local shop and see if You can't hear the difference between the two. And yeah, take into consideration what type of HU, Amp, etc. You will be using.

Yeah 2 12s will be alot louder than 1. you definitely be able to notice.
three tens will be louder than 2 twelves, but the the 12s will have slightly deeper base.
A friend of mine had three audiobahn 10s in the trunk of his altima and another one of my friends had 2 12 inch audioubahns, same exact model, and he also had the same year altima. They both had dynomatt as well, and i believe they were running the same power to them. The 10s were so much louder it rattled everything more, the rear deck was rediculous. They were pretty deep too, but the 2 12s were slightly deeper, and not as loud. I would go with two 12s cause there is really no point in going that loud, its not like youre always gonna want THAT much noise. The 12s were also a little deeper which is nice, and they were still loud, i mean the 3 tens were a little rediculous IMO.
Usually 6 ohm subs were meant to be run in threes cause they can be wired in parallel at one ohm, atleast this is what i remembered hearing.

Oh yeah two type rs are a different story, i was just saying that if they were the same speakers, i think my friends were the aluminum series. They did not want the foam or something, i dunno.
