12" w3v1 vs. 12" type r

Okay i'm getting these two sets of subs, 2 JL 12w3v1's or 2 12" type r's. I haven't heard either yet but i'll be keeping one set and selling the other. Any suggestions to which ones you guys think would be the better set? I don't really care about the SPL output of them, just the SQ. These will be in a sealed enclousure.

I've had JL's before the w6 and w7's and i've had alpine. From all my systems I would rather go with JL anyday over the alpines

Thats a tough call. JL and Alpine are both very reputable companies.

The JLs are their entry line while the Alpines are a lot higher line.
JL: W1, W3, W6, W7
Alpine: E, S, R, X

Never really listened to either, but I'd guess the Alpines should beat out the JLs. In theory the Alpine should perform better .....
