I just installed an isolator in my car to run two batteries...i want the one in the back just to run the system however....i have an optima red top in front and a stinger yellow in back...my problem is the battery in back wont keep a charge...it just keeps dropping voltage....im pretty sure it's my stock alternator not being able to keep up....however someone let me know if there's nething else i can do...also my alternator charge light flickers everytime i change gears everyonce and a while...but the car hasnt died on me so i know the front is getting a charge....and it has been a week

maybe the isolator is giving you too much loss and the rear battery cant charge on the voltage it's getting... supposedly isolators drop approx a full volt across the terminals, so you might want to try something a bit more efficient. Try an RV solenoid

get a bigger alternator or rewire the one you already have. Also check your voltage regulator. That might be causing a problem.

Myself I think I need an Battery Isolater. I have blown out the voltage regulator twice already.

This is what I'm running:

check your regulator with a circuit checker. should work one way but not the other.

If your light's coming on at all, you need an alternator. I give it a month.

If you have enough room for a bigger one, just get a new one. If you don't you can rewire it like I said before. Just go to any alternator place and ask if they rewire alternators. Where in cali do you live?
