headunit wont turn off!!!
ok so check this.
i installed a 4 channel amp to power all my speakers, and im gettin alternator whine. so i had my key inside the ignition on OFF (so the car and my headunit were both off), while i was workin around the rca's. next thing i know, my headunit goes ON, with the car still not running!!??
i dunno wtf happened. and now, my head unit never goes off, even if i remove my key from the ignition. it only goes off when i remove the headunit's faceplate. wtf is goin on?? pls help!
i got an civic '02 coupe
headunit is a pioneer 7600mp
thx!

on a side note, i think that's pretty cool..heh
i'd like to be able to have music even without the key in the ignition...
solution => wire the deck's ignition wire to the battery and use the deck's on/off switch or remove the faceplate to turn deck off..lol...

first, check that red wire going into your deck with your key not in the ignition. use a tester or a 12volt light, touch one end of the tester or light to somewhere that grounds to the frrame, and then touch the red wire to the other end of the tester or light. if the tester reads 12volts or the light lights up, you have a short or something wrong somewhere. then to find out more where the problem is, we would need to get more information on what exactly you were doing when it happened. where were you working on the RCA's (on the back of your deck or on the back of your amp)?

I know that, but i just wanted to know if he was near the back of the deck when it happened, if so, he might have shorted the constant memory wire with the red ignition wire when he was working with the RCA's.
well i was workin with the rca's behind my HU when it happened.
and guess what. i just went behind there again, and checked around all the connections on the HU's adapter. they seemed fine.
so i tried out the "keyless powered HU prob" again and it still continued.
went out for a lil ride. and when i stopped, took the key out, it came back to normal!... damn random sob of a HU.. heh ok i guess its a bad connection somewhere tho...?
thx reverb for ur help!
