Stock HU and Keyless entry?

Ok my sister just bought a 2004 ex coupe and she wants to get an aftermarket HU, however i heard that the keyless entry system is run through the stock HU, (a rumor that never bothered me bc i dont have remote entry on my 02 LX). so can someone please tell me if this is true, and if it is how, if at all, can this be bypassed. thank you in advance.

That was on the earlier Gen civics, 98-00 EX's. If you took out the Stock HU you would have to relocate it under the aftermarket to keep the Keyless functional. You are okay, SWAP away!!

not true on 7th gen, 6th gen did. on my old '98 civic the stock hu had to be mounted behind the console for keyless to work. I installed my deck in my '03 with no problems at all. hope this helped !

One suggestion: since the EX's are code-protected (the LX's aren't), write down the code for the HU before you disconnect it (unless you have the little "code card" from the dealer). You might want to sell the stock HU or have a need to put it back in one day.
