Are you sure your antenna wire (the fat black one with the silver plug) is securely plugged in?
I don't quite understand the "power antenna wire" discussion; I never did any splicing, and my radio reception has been fine from day one.

Yes, it's an Acura EL

some harnesses do not have the power antenna wire on them. i have used 2 harnesses now on my car, the first did not have a wire to hook up the powerED antenna, the second did.
Note the emphasized ED. From my understanding, our car has a powered antenna (different from power) and you have to have the harness with the powered antenna wire to get the best reception.

but where does it get hooked up to???? I already screwed my radio to day trying to fix this problem I spliced into the Cigarette lighter cause someone said it (power antenna need power) so I did that and I think the loose wires with no tape on it touched something bad but my radio fuse isnt blown

wow, i've had an aftermarket JVC deck for 2+ years in my car without ever having the power antenna wire hooked up (no wire on my harness) - my FM reception was always pretty good and I could use the mono mode on the deck to pick up distant stations clearer.
My new Kenwood deck has noticeably worse FM and no mono mode so I am definitely gonna be pulling it out and hooking up that wire asap.

arghh, I just got around to taking my deck out to check out this power antenna wire issue....
The Green/Yellow wire on the honda side lines up with a gray wire on the aftermarket harness side (one of the speaker connections)
My harness does in fact have a power antenna wire but it doesn't line up to any wire on the honda side of the plug...
The only wire not being used from the honda side is the 'dimmer' wire since my deck doesn't have this function.
Is it possible only certain models / years have this hookup? Mine is an '02 Sedan
Help!!!

OK here is what my harnesses look like:
Honda side:
X 2 X X 5 6 7 8 9 A
X X X X F G H I J K
2 = Yellow/Red
5 = Pink
6 = Blue/White
7 = Yellow/Green
8 = Green/Black
9 = Red/Black
A = White/Red
F = Yellow/Black
G = Blue/Black
H = Grey/Red
I = Green
J = Red
K = Black
Harness side:
1 2 X X 5 6 7 8 9 A
X X X X F G H I J K
1 = P.Ant/Blue
2 = 12V Red
5 = Right Rear+ (Purple)
6 = Left Rear + (Green)
7 = Right Front + (Grey)
8 = Left Front + (White)
9 = Illumination / Orange
A = 12V memory / Yellow
F = Right Rear - (Purple/Black)
G = Left Rear - (Green/Black)
H = Right Front - (Grey/Black)
I = Left Front - (White/Black)
J = Dimmer (Orange/Black)
K = Ground? (Black)
As you can see pin 7 which is the wire referred to as the antenna wire goes to the Right Front positive speaker wire on my harness. Pin 1 on my harness does not have any wire that corresponds to it on the honda harness side.
I'm starting to think my car just doesn't have the powered antenna...

Sweet that fixed my problem. My harness did not have a yellow/green connection. My deck had a Blue/White for power antenna, so I spliced the yellow/green and hooked it up to the Blue/White. Now, the am AM radio works and the FM station reception seems stronger.

I'm kind of having the same issue as you. I'm just wondering if you got this issue resolved and what did you do. I do get FM reception but sometimes cuts out or gets really weak the fact that I live in the city. I noticed my aftermarket harness do have a blue wire for auto antenna/power antenna but there's no feed coming from my Honda wires. I do have a sedan like you. From what I heard the power antenna line is only available for coupes? Is this true. Thanks man.
