Got me some alt whine
Just put an amp in for my front speakers today (PG Tantrum 300.2) and now I'm getting a small amount of line noise when the car is running... never had the prob before as I was on deck power, so it's something to do with the install... anybody here have this prob with our cars before? what did you do to fix?
I've taken care of the obvious, running my rca's on opposite side to power (however speaker wires are ziptied to interconnects), and moved my RCA's near the amp so they aren't near any power....
got any suggestions ppl?
btw system sounds great now, I've never had external amp for my fronts before, so I'm loving it. Only problem is my tweeters are harsh as **** (alpine type-s). They are going to be replaced soon anyway with either PG Xenon 6.5 or the top model from Hertz Audio. I did some initial tuning and just now I attenuated my tweeters to -6db so maybe that will help but I still have a ways to go

I had that problem as well, the usual power/RCA cable location didn't seem to do much. What seemed to work for me was just to turn down my gains. I had them turned up higher than I needed, I turned it down a little and it seemed to go away.
It might be worth a try to play with the gains. I don't know much else.

I used to have problems with alternator whine, I tried checking all my grounds and messing with the gains and couldnt figure it out. Realized it was my old *** amp bought a new one and havnt hear any whine since. So perhaps its your amp (if you check all the other stuff)
a cheap fix for this is to try a ground loop isolator - it installs inline between your RCA connection and the amp. Gurus will poo poo it but it worked for me. the long term fix for me was upgrading my cheap PowerAcoustik to an Alipine amp with better noise isolation.

they are in the sail panels
these speakers wont last long
I am getting 2 new pair of speakers (top of the line from Hertz Audio, and PG xenon 6.5" comp sets), and I will be running one of those based on which I think sounds better. Eventually they will be going in a set of kick panels (prob q-forms).
It sounded actually quite a bit better in my garage last night at -6db so time will tell how that holds up
