do you prefer a sealed or ported box for your IDMAX?
just what the title says, I've found a sealed box on ebay that looks like its built very well says 3/4 mdf, double thickness face (1.5") NO AIR LEAKS, blah blah blah made for IDMAX...
but I was thinking of going with ported.. whats everyones opinions?
(im almost thinking of getting sealed just because it's made for the idmax, but I had a ported box and sealed box on my TypeRs, and I liked the ported better, louder, less power, however.. would the sealed be a considerable amount better for SQ?)
overall Im most concerned with quality because my amp is 600rms, and now im to the point where I know that is more than enough.

depends on the subs used to wether ported or sealed is better but for the power at the moment you can assume that ported will sound best, then again that matters on the subs used

im lookin at an idmax 10 v3.
also, is paying $400 on sounddomain worth it for the warranty? (i noticed they're the only factory authorize dealer and the warranty is lifetime) so basically if I had to buy 2 off ebay i'd be over $600, so is it worth paying $120ish more to buy it from sounddomain and have the warranty or just ebay it and if I have problems (which is doubtful but can happen) just have to fork out the cash for a new one..???

well for those subs to be optimum you would need about 2 and half cu feet of box and thats alot of box in my opinion. For warranty I would say go with it because each time you don't something happens. Its still all in what you want.

yea, I think I'll prolly end up paying more w/ sounddomain since i know its good, and im pretty sure I'll get what I want out of either box so maybe i'll just get the sealed off ebay since its built well and says its made for idmax.

I likes a sealed box, but I also like SQ, and tight punchy bass. t's really a matter of saving space, though, majorly. There is no perfect box, just a personal preference issue.

sealed box will get you tight punchy bass as long as the speakers are right for the small form factor fo the box. I've been running sealed with 2 subs and pushing a phoenix gold 600.2 to them and its been comparable to a 15 " ported but without the reverb that a ported box can give you.
