Brown bread or Dynamat??? which is better??
I want to know which is better out of the two. Brown bread or Dynamat??? and will it really prevent my trunk from rattling?? I'm only running a JL 250/1 amp, so the rattling from the trunk is not too bad, just depends on the song.
So brown bread or dynamat??
TIA, Phu.

Gow ith dynamat Xtreme in the trunk. As for rattling it will prevent most rattles behind the matting but if your system gets loud then it will still shake things up.
As for my when volume hits 18/30 im rattling already. I have the amp set so that max volume is 24/30 and that rattles the front of the car.
The major difference with dynamat or any of these is that it will make your subs a LITTLE louder. On the other hand, they hit SO much harder that you really feel them alot more even at lower volumes.

Dynamat owns all. However I have also used brown bread and it doesn't smell nearly as bad as other brands *ahem fatmat,* and with brown bread the smell actually goes away n a week or two.
I used Raamat. I have no rattling at all. No smell either. I just did the top of the trunk and put two layers on the back of my license plate. (ppl forget this) Also, I have weather stripping and fibrous carpet padding under my plastic panels.

running brown bread all through my car, as for what your running can get away with a little here and there in your trunk and adjust the trunk lid. That should get rid of the little rattle you do have. The cost is lower for brown bread and its simple to work with. Also I never had any smell or bad tar bleeding.

Better performance wise? neither are better, they do the exact same thing. Better cost effective wise? Brown Bread, hands down. The thing with Dynamat is the name recognition. People can identify their product anywhere, so naturally, they will buy it for name recognition. That's the way it's marketed. My advice, get one of the alternative dampeners, and save some money, you're not going to see or hear any performance differences.

I got dynamat cause of name and i got a nice discount since i bought $1000 of JL stuff from them.
Anyway Dynamat Xtreme does not even smell out of the box. It is smell-less. I have sheets of it in my room right now and i have never smelled anything. even when installing it i got some on my hands and NO SMELL. dynamat Xtreme has no smell so thats a huge plus. And the Xtreme is easy to work with. No clue about dynamat original though.
Just telling you what I got and why and the +'s. Make a descision off of everyone's posts but I am pleased with Xtreme and recommend it to anyone.

Smell depends on teh run it comes out of. Some runs of the product will be very ocdor filled, others won't even have a smell. I had problems with Dynamat smelling, and conversely Fatmat was odor free for me. They're never going to be consistant from one pack to the next unless they're in the same run of the product. As for ordering brown bread, there are some links in the sound deadening DIY stickied at the top. What ever you get, make sure to correctly do the prep work before applying any dampener (as in properly cleaning and drying the surface, warming it up with a heater of some sort before applying if it's cold, etc.) The preperation is what makes the difference in the application of product. Prepare the surface right, and you'll never have a problem. Also, might I remind you, cause I'm assuming you're doing the trunk, make sure you foam the trunk lid as applying a mat dampener only will seal in the rattle
I sure wish my car was newer

For me, the Dynamat Xtreme didn't smell like anything, but the regular Dynamat was awful smelling. Nearly my entire trunk is sound-deadened and I've still got rattles with my one JL 10W7-3 with a JL 500.1 if I listen to any bass-heavy music above 9 or 10 (which is only 1/3 of how loud it can go.) So with whatever you get, don't expect your car to suddenly be complete rattle free. It's just not realistic.
^^^^^. Thats not true, i am sorry not to offend you. There is a JL auth dealer here and one of his car is 6thgen civic. He had 12w7 in his car and no rattle at all. They told me its $300 to do my truck just like this civic. I thought that might be to much since its only the truck. This is the main reason i got 12w7 i was just amaze when i heard it. So now i got one.

well, I don't expect all the rattles to be gone, but I want most of the rattling to go away though.
I was leaning towards brown bread cause its cheaper, and it does the same thing as dynamat. I'm probably going to go for brown bread unless someone gives me a good reason why I should not go with it.
btw, how much sq ft of material do I need to cover my entire trunk???

I’m leaning toward brownbread or possibly fatmat myself.
By the way, when deadening the front doors do you only do the metal parts of the door? What about the interior panel (the plastic one) do you need to do the back of that also? Oh yeah, what about the plastic on the door, do you just remove it all together if so, do you then cover over the openings that the plastic was covering with the brownbread?
The same question applies to the rear deck also. Just the metal, or do you do the underside of the plastic interior peice also?

i loaded my car up with dynamat, so i cant comment on square footage. but i have no rattles from INSIDE the car, there are some outside, mainly the spoiler, but i cant hear any of that inside, so i can care less.
i think a trunk kit is like 20 square feet, should be enough for one layer (not fully covering each spot). i think i have a trunk kit and a door kits worth of dynamat in the trunk.
