how many people have JL 12w7 in there civic?**PICS**
HI i just bought 12w7 and JL 1000/1 amp. I am just wondering how many people have 12w7 in the civic? if you have 12w7 sub in your civic please post some pics. I want some idea on what kind of box i am looking for. And i have an issue where i blew two kicker amps. And i am wondering if bad ground would do it? and can bad RCA connection blow amp?
UPDATE
I can't believe my ear. This thing is loud. I won't doubt if this think break the plastic piece that covers the back speaker.Man i wish you guys can hear this.

^^^ hi what amp are you pushing the sub with. And how loud is it compare to those 3 12's you had before. I know the SQ is lot better. And last, but least where did you ground the amp?

You know the metal hump on the "floor" between the seats and the trunk...i grounded my JL 500/1 there...with my own special grounding screw (aka some screw laying around the garage that day) and it works perfecty. try getting the paint off where you ground to get the best connection possible.
when i hooked my system up, i hooked up the ground behind this area of carpet in the trunk on the right hand side. ( i think the left hand side would do too). if you lift the grey carpet layer, you cant miss seeing the frames of metal/steel. your gonna need to sand off the leftover paint so its bare metal.
sry to whomever original photo that is

also congrats on the 1000/1 and W7 but man your lights are going to dim so bad!
I got 1/2 that much power and its a real problem. Have a headace from the bass for like 4 hours now. ever since dynamat my subs have been killing my head.

yeah use a dremel to sand off some paint, then use a sheet metal screw.. a seatbelt bolt works good, otherwise any place where there's double metal is good for a ground. Yes a bad ground can fry an amp.

I could care less for improved SQ, I just don't want my trunk to rattle. Its not bad now. In some of the songs only when the really low bass hits, my trunk rattles.
^^ This is WAY off topic but your avatar is GREAT.. I'm like.. obsessed with christina (not in a dangerous way).. anyways yeah, If at all possible, use a star washer because after you tighten it down to a certain point, the teeth in the washer help create a more secure ground.

I used two and a half sheets of dynamat xtreme just on the trunk lid...10 square feet.
and yes my trunk still rattles! Subs hit alot harder and rear deck lid shakes so so much more. I have about 12 square feet left over now from the install (Xtreme trunk kit and wedge pack) so Ill be doing the deck in spring if I ever feel like taking it apart.

well currently I have 2 12" wls Power acoustics in a fiberglass box being pushed by phoenix gold amps but I have decided to put in a single 10w7 fed by a 500/1 and a 300/4 to push my doors and rears. I have my ground bolted in the tirewell and using a 5farad alumapro cap with a yellow top optima battery. Head unit is a clarion vrx935vd w/changer and so far no major issues.

Last night I secured my amp MUCH better and revearsed the L brackets I had holding the bow in so that now it sits on the bottom and you only see on side.
That board used to just sit in there and now I put 7 zip-ties and 4 screws through it to keep it there. And now it doesnt move at all!

ive seen people say they have put foam under it...one guy put a yoga mat under it. Anything really would work as long as the plastic isnt hitting the metal thats where u get the rattle from.

Ground it where ever you feel like grinding the paint off.
As for the rear deck rattle, sound dampener, and lots of it. I might even recommend carpeting it, as it'll still rattle against the glass. For a temporary fix you can cram old socks or anything in there to keep it from contacting the glass.
