my buddy had some sort of metal tool that looked like 2 very thin sills with teething grip that slides right under my aftermarket deck and once you get it under and get ahold of the rear end of the deck with its "L" style hook on the end, he just pulled it back and popped right out. does anyone know what tool this is? if so, what is it called and where can i purchase one?

i believe crutchfield includes this tool when u buy a hu from them...one goes on each side and its supposed to just pull out ur radio

alot of companies you need "keys" to unlock the deck from the cage....because our civics are iso mounts this shouldnt be needed..


fords need two keys to pull the stock deck out.

^^^ No those are used to remove the crappy stock units out of Fords.

D17thgen - whatever brand HU you have you need to get those specific keys to pull the HU out. Check with audio shops.

I thought you were talking about the DIN pullers for Ford radios as well.. I have no idea what you're talking about.. I think you're talking about the keys as well but they very brand to brand

i have an aftermarket pioneer deh model.

so would pioneer have 1 kind for all pioneer car cd receivers?

^factory is screwed in, but most after market kits make you use a radio cage to lock it in place, without screws.

^^ my kit uses a cage, but the screws go through the stock metal frame and into the radio, right through the cage....That tool is useless on a civic.

with mine, you pop the bezel thing off and theres two spots at the bottom where you can just pull the cage out.

My aftermarket deck is screwed in using the iso mount screws. You can't use any keys on mine.
