UPDATED!Finally, system done!! Pics Started, Page 2!!
After dealing with nothing but rear speakers for the better part of a month, the system in my 01 EX is complete (well, 99%).
Head Unit: Alpine CDA-9833
Front Speakers: Alpine SPX-177R
Rear Speakers: None
Sub: JL 12w3-d4
Sound Deadening: Dynamat Extreme (1 Bulk Pack & 3 Door Kits)
Amps: JL 300/4 & 500/1
Setup: Full sound deadening of front door skins and panels, trunk, trunk lid and rear shelf. Amplifiers mounted under front seats, on plastic spacers and secured with stainless hardware and rivet nuts. Also isolated from chassis with rubber washers. Thorough, solid installation. Tweeters mounted in existing stock location, mids mounted using Metra adapter, sealed with silicone and foam, plastic sheeting used as water protection. Fiberglass enclosure mounted in left rear quarter panel. Dual 4 gauge power runs, all wiring Xpando'd and heatshrink as necessary. Crossovers for front speakers mounted under center console/ e-brake area. Whew, anything else? Oh yeah, Alpine head unit switched to 3-way mode. Suffice to say, the civ sounds AMAZING! The sound is very smooth, no harshness at all thanks to the biamping of the fronts. Imaging and staging are excellent, thanks to the time alignment on the 33. All in all a sweet setup. I wish you all could hear it!
All that's left is to pick the fabric for the enclosure. I just ordered some black Alcantara to redo the headliner and pillars, and if there is enough spare I'll do the enclosure, too. Hopefully I'll have some pics of everything within a week or two.

yea, you'll definitely blow 1 W3 with a 500/1... that amp has *****...
I got a 12 W3V2D4 in my ride and it hits hard enough for me... and great choice on the front type-x's... those are the components i really wanted to get but i just settled for some eclipse point source's...
and how come you didn't go with the 9835? i love the biolite display of the 35 better than the regular display on the 33...
What speakers you plan on running for the rears?

Hopefully pics tomorrow.
Well lets see what I got here...
It is 1 12w3, yes it is straining to handle the 500/1 at 1.5 ohms, gain is WAY down
No rears in this system
What do I do with the enclosure carpeting? Alcantara or trunk liner?

I'm pretty sure you can't be running 1.5 ohms if you have one sub. You could only run at 2 ohms. You could also do 8 ohms, but you would not want that.
How are you running 1.5ohms??

This is gonna be like a strip show here. I managed to click a few pics after work today but couldnt get the juicy stuff. I took these in the parking lot, but it was freezing todayy so it was short. Hopefully work will be slow tomorrow and I can pull the seats and door panel to give you all a better idea of whats going on. First, the enclosure, not sure what to wrap it in though.

Here's the drivers side amp mounting, tweeter mount, and pass side amp mount, respectively. Not great pics but you can see in the first one the wire ties every inch and a half, etc. You can also vaguely see the plastic spacers that "float" the amps under the seats. Also gives you an idea of how far forward the amps are mounted, they are pretty much even with the back of the seat in the full forward pos on pass side.
Last pics for now. I tried to get the plastic spacers so you can get idea of the overall height. The only modification to the bottom of the seats was on the pass side. The spring mechanism that automatically slides the seat back was eliminated. In pic2 you can BARELY see the spacer and felt pads under the hardware. Dont worry, the best is yet to come! Also, if anyone else is looking to do this, this will give you a reference for mounting.
It's a stick though, AND the head unit is setup in 3-way mode, so I can adjust the tweeter and midrange levels independently, as well as the crossover points and slope. Not to mention how well the friggin mids are sealed in the doors, and the dynamat. It seriously sounds like there is an 8 inch sub behind the dash! The amount of kick out of the mids is ridiculous. I cant wait til the speakers are broken in. I'm going easy on them for a bit.
