Question Amp set-up questions

I was reviewing the manual for the JL Audio 300/4 amp before I go out and buy al the equipemnt I'm looking at and came accross a section that I'm not sure I can handle myself...

It looks like the configuration phase could be a bit complex. See the PDF here. The 9 step set-up process in Appendix B is what concerns me most. Is something that has to be done or is it more of a tuning your system thing that will just improve your sound quality? I guess I was kind of expecting to be abe to get the amp all wired up and whatnot and then it would be good to go.

The other thing is I don't have a digital AC voltometer or a SIN wave CD and I really don't want to have to go out and get them.

That is the "right" way to do it, but a perfectly acceptable method is you turn your HU to 90% of it's max volume, with the amp gain at 0, and turn the gain up untill you get distortion. Then back it down untill the distortion goes away. Now your gain or input sensitivity is set. no multimeter or sinewav cd necessary.

If youve got multiple channels, You should do each channel seperately though, by unpluging the inputs to all channels, then plugging one in at a time.

Sweet! So do you have JL components or 6x9s? I wondering about the fit in an 04 ex coupe.

ok cool. I've been looking at the VR650-CSI and the VR690-TXI. Um so will the 6.5" components be to large for the front? Is that why you went with the 6"? With the 6x9s, did you have to modify the bar for the trunk lid or anything? I hear, some people are having to do that with 6x9s that are too deep...

By the way, do you have a link for the adapters/spacers you used? Nothing needed in back on the 6x9s?

I used the American International Pt # HSB-518 for the fronts to get my Alpine 6.5's in.
I have no rears, but you may have a clearance issue with the JL's, as they are deep.
