diy alternating taillights and turn signals

Alright guys this is what I want to do, on my 2002 civic I have a turn signal and a brake light. I need you guys to tell how I can wire this up. I want to make it so that when you hit your brakes they flash and alternate from brake light to turn signal. I also need to know how to make it so that when you turn on your turn signal and hit your brakes the brakes go solid and the turn signal flashes. How can I do this?????

And just so that you know I do have a pretty decent knowledge of electronics I just need to know what parts to buy and how to wire it up.
Also tell me what you guys think if it would be cool or just plain ugly. I saw a mustang that did this once it flashed in between all 3 taillights and it was really awesome looking. Thanks for the help in advance Realitycheck.

Ive never seen a third tail light blink unless someone was pumping on the brakes.

I thought about switching up bulbs trying to make it look different but it would look a little funny.

yeah i agree , that doesnt sound like something that a manufacturer would make anyway, serves no purpose and, (as far as i would think blinking lights mean extra caution?) so that might be confusing to some

i really dont even understand completely what youre trying to do, and from how i took your post it doesnt sound spectacular IMO but if you do it post some vids or somethin

I think he wants the upper trunk lgiht and the signal light to blink interchangably. I mean a lot of side markers are like that so I guess its not too crazy of an idea.

Dont think the blinking brake light is safe. I mean when someone infront of you rams on the brakes you notice the light on quickly and stays on along with the tail end flying up.

If it blinked would look like you were just tapping your brakes, and you'd get rear ended. Getting rear ended aint pretty, sure you might get a free bumper out of it but could end up with back pain for life.

It's called "Red Alert" and it's a simple resistor/capacitor, about the size of quarter, square.

Go to an audio installer/car tuner and ask them for them. They remove them from new cars all the time. You can put them inline in your brake lights; they are 12V.

I agree with earlier posts, though - it would look stupid.

And to all the skeptics out there, go look at pretty much any new car with a third brake light that costs over 20K, they all have the blinking third brake light. I personally, like the idea, though a spoiler would look stupid, it's a good idea cause if the light's blinking it'll catch people's eye. Not that it'd look good on our car though, cause the third brake light is so low. Maybe if it were at the top of the window.

you know whats funny, 5 hours after posting my post about getting rear ended. A priest decides to drive into my back bumper. grrrrrrr

and popcorn player, name one car that does it. I havnt seen any bmw's with blinking third lights?

I live in Toronto and its littered with cars over 20k, a lot of new cars. Unless someones pumping the brakes Ive never seen a flashing third tail light
