I used Meguiars PlastX on my scratched JVC deck's face and my alarm remote's scuffed and scratched display. Helped quite a bit, but they would never look brand new. I even read a DIY somewhere where this guy used toothpaste to buff out scratches, citing the fact that toothpaste is a very very fine abrasive. I've never tried it though.

OOPS!
totally forgot about his thread.
this might sound weird but it worked for me.
it all started when i was bored and had nothing to do at home.
i stared at my HU and thought to myself....damn, this is alot of scratches...i wonder how i can take it off....
after sitting and thinking for about 5 hours straight....
i thought about using this...........
it took out a good amount of scratches off my HU....especially the small ones
but it didnt took out those big nasty ones......
i'd say my HU appears to have 80% less scratches

the product i used is.......................... (scroll down)

meguiars gold class car wax......
yup....car wax......just use it the same way you would wax off your car.
try it.....you only need like a drop.

*ahem*
rep point if it helps like how it helped like for me

there should be a sticky DIY on how many different products to use to get rid of scraches off the HU
and we can give product ratings on them
areas of:
how much it took off
easiness
smell
blah blah ....

eh eh eh?????

Maybe Ill try the toothpaste. My deck is about 7 years old. Still runs AWESOME. Gotta love Pioneer HU's. After 1 Cerwin Vega 12 , 2 JBL 10s, 3 MTX 10s, 2RF 12s, and G&S Designs 2 10s (current), it is still running strong as hell. Just got a gazillion scratches on it. Glad I came upon this. I will try toothpaste, maybe a car polish or wax? Ill post back after I try something. Maybe a before/after pic as well. You can barely see with all the scratches on it, soooooo old. but for 500 bucks it better have lasted me.
