Confused on engine noise...

Well, here is what's confusing me so much. I recently installed a set of MB Quarts to replace my Infnity's in my car. I ended up running two new sets of wires to the doors. I previously had one wire going to the door and the crossover was up there, but I now have the crossovers in the rear of the vehicle and there are two wires for each component set running to the front.

My problem is that I am getting some pretty bad engine noise, but the wiring is ran in the same location as the previous wire had ran, grounding point on the amp is the same, same RCA's, power wire hasn't changed. I forgot to mention, the amp has changed (got it replaced under through a buddy of mine that owns a car audio shop). But as far as all the wiring, everything is the same except for the type of speaker wiring going to the speakers. My previous wiring was 14 gauge monster cable, but when I ran the new wiring, I just went with some cheap 16 gauge wiring.

Could the speaker wire be the culprit here? The only other thing I can think of doing is hooking up a my old speakers to the amp to see if the amp or ground is the problem, just haven't had a chance to do anything since it's been raining here pretty much constantly for the past week or so.

My initial thought would think that the amp is the culprit. Switch with another amp and see what happens

Revmaster is an unknown quantity at this point
What is the brand and specs of your amp. The engine noise you here coming from your speakers is actually a "Static". In wont go away unless you have a supressor or you replace your amp.

Supressors are not an answer though, since the quality of the sound is sacrificed.

The amp is a Directed 500.4, 75x4 into 4ohms....I'm pretty sure the amp isn't the problem as my last amp, same brand and model, didn't have thsi problem.
