CDA-9835 + iPOD
I want to connect the ipod to my alpine HU.
i know there is a product specific for this operation but i have read some reviews and the most of them say that its not worthy..
so i was searching around and a friend told me that this will do it:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-LngWPFn...&search=alpine
any knows if this cable works with my unit?

that should work. i dont have experience with alpine, but most headunits in that price range have aux inputs. but it looks like that cable is what you need to connect your ipod to your radio (you will also need an RCA to mini cable).
you can also get this: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qiISqPg...0&I=500KCA420I
its more expensive, but it allows you to control your ipod through you're radio, worth a look.

From crutchfeild in the description of your model HU:
Auxiliary Input Ready: With the addition of the optional KCA-121B Ai-NET/RCA interface cable, the KCA-801B auxiliary input adapter, or the KCA-410C Versatile-Link Terminal, the audio from an auxiliary source can be played through this unit. When the KCA-121B interface cable is used, a CD changer cannot be connected to the head unit; the KCA-801B auxiliary input adapter allows you to connect an auxiliary source and an Ai-NET changer to the head unit. The KCA-410C Versatile-Link Terminal allows you to feed audio from up to two auxiliary sources and two Ai-NET CD changers to the head unit
i think no one responded because they assumed you could read the manual? Really not trying to be a pensu but thats one nice deck you got, and its a little surprising that you would have it and not have geeked out all over the manual.

Hold man. Dont use the aux input for your i-pod. There is a SPECIAL connector made just for the i-pod that lets you access the i-pod's storage from the head unit! It will show the name of the song and all of that good stuff on the head unit screen. Go to an Alpine dealer for more info.

i update my ipod almost daily, cant do that with a CD unless RW and it can get, you know.. full.
If you are updating daily I would think you would need less songs. But I agree with your point about mobility. That is a very good reason to have an ipod.
Along with the piece you mention you will also need this http://www.ahernstore.com/3003asb.html

Since buying my 40 gig iPod I have rid my car of 100-120 CD's. Its really nice. All the CD's I had laying around, I now take with my in my pocket, in my iPod. The iPod also is now dubbing as my external hard drive as I am formatting both my computers. Great tool. I have a Clarion deck that I just use the Aux input in. I than bought a Belkin auto charger. Uses the dock connector for the power, and audio. Works well.
