The rubber around my sub melted...
I was driving back from Texas and I had everything packed up in my trunk. My gymbag was in between my sub and the trunk and I guess while I was running the sub it got too hot and a little of it melted onto my bag. I know, my fault...
Anyway, it still sounds the same to me. I was just wondering if this hurts the performance of the sub or killed any life of it... Its a 12" Alpine Type S btw. Not a lot of the rubber melted, just like a top layer on the bottom half of it. And there is a crease pattern on a little bit.

You PROBABLY hurt the performance a bit, but it doesn't sound like you did something too bad
On a side note, how goddamn hot is it in texas that you have this problem in WINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard there was snow down there this year too!

It was cold this winter. It snowed last week. I think I just had too much stuff in the trunk and my bag was laying on the sub. Man that sucks... not good

There is a place online where you can get a new surround for your sub. They have a video and everything on how to do it. Look around on the ICE forum for a thread title "re-glueing surround" or something of that nature. There is a link to the site on that thread.
Yeah Mega, I was thinking the same thing. I'm worried my speakers are going to freeze. Melting never really concerned me.
Anyway, you should try to make sure you don't have anything contacting the subs while they are playing. That can hurt them any number of ways.

You can get a new surround there if you need it.

A grill would have prevented this, a good investment. They're all just so ugly though.
