rpm cluster arm?

is it normal to have the rpm arm close to the one, and not at 0. i noticed that when you look at both the speedometer/rpm arm, the speedometer arm is at 0... and the rpm arm is near the 1. my warranty is ending soon, and i'm not sure if i should address this.

Of course it's normal, your engine is idling! When the arm goes to 0, your engine has stalled.

I believe 700rpm is the "normal" idle for our cars. You will find that it will idle much higher when you start it on a cold day. It hasn't gone above 20 degrees here in a week and my car is idling at about 1,500rpm from a cold start. Once it warms up it will idle at 700 again like it's supposed to.

Do not be alarmed.

Did you ever take time to learn how an engine works and what rpm's really mean? honestly howstuffworks.com has some great articles on cars.
Here are some good learning tools:
How engines work:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm
How manual transmissions work:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/transmission.htm
How auto transmissions work:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/automa...ansmission.htm
How steering works:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/steering.htm
How horsepower works (what horsepower really means):
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/horsepower.htm
How mufflers work:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/muffler.htm

And something not for us, how rotary engines work (Like in the Mazda RX-8's, Rx-7's, etc.):
