help: no power to deck

alright, my deck was working perfectly for about two years.. a few months ago it became locked on one station.. i couldn't change the volume, the station, play a CD.. nothing.. and the lights on the deck barely lit up.. now, no lights light up and nothing plays, so i'm guessing it's receiving no power.
what can the problem be?
can it be a problem with the battery? cuz when the bass used to hit the headlights dimmed.. and when i use the power windows sometimes the headlights dim too. any help is appreciated. thanks.

PK2K1, Sounds like its time for a new deck. The dimming of the headlights is attributed to excessive current draw on the system. You'll notice it most on the headlights as they draw a decent amount of current. Throw in some windshield wipers going and power windows and you should definitely see it. This is not so much a problem with the battery as it is with the alternator/charging system. If you want a relatively easy solution for the current draw issue upgrade the alternator ground (its only like 10 ga stock) and engine ground (braided line right in front of you with hood open) to a good 4 ga wire.

As for the deck itself, it may be a fuse, but dont expect the lights to be functioning. The only effect the cold would have on it would be worsening a preexisting problem on the circuit board. I have an Alpine CDA-9833, and on the coldest of days (-2 this morning) the display takes a couple of minutes.

alright, i checked the fuse.. it's ok.. i took the deck out and made sure everything's properly plugged in..
MassMayhem, thanks for your help. dumb question.. but is there 2 grounds that you're talking about (alternator and engine) or is that one wire?

pk2k1, when you say checked the fuse does that mean you used an ohm meter to make sure it was good? Or did you eyball it? I just ask because sometimes it can blow and eyeballing it doesn't detect it.
