Wattage for power inverter?

My sister's getting me a power inverter for x-mas so I can use my laptop instead of a stereo....what wattage would I need? I'm not sure if the 350w one from wal-mart would work, or if it'd be pushing it...would it be ok, or do I need the 700w one?

If my calculations are correct you should be fine with a 350W one. My laptop power supply says its output is only 120W.

Thanks a lot...hope so. I guess we'll know for sure when the inverter goes out from too much overheating...if it comes to that.

fuse would probably blow first in the inverter.

I think it was a 90 watt inverter we were using and were fine.

at any rate, it was the one that you get from best buy for like $30 bucks that plugs into the ciggarette lighter and is all in one style, just a small box.

we ran a compaq armada from that and never had any issues, ever.

i've got a 300w one and i've blown the cigarette lighter fuse twice... so i don't think the inverter is going to be the weak link... i tried running my laptop and a ps2
