Help with wiring trunk opener
Does anybody know how to hook up the wire for an Audiovox/Prestige APS996A
so I can use the alarm remote for the trunk opener? I did the DIY for the trunk
opener (installing a 98-02 accord trunk latch into my civic) but I haven't
been able to figure out which wire to hook up.

if your alarm outputs a positive signal, then your set, just hook the blue wire on the opener to whichever output wire your manual says for the alarm. Most alarms output a negative signal. you'll need a relay to hook the two together. If you look at the relay, their are 4 prongs, one side has the picture of a coil, the other or a open latch. on one side put a constant +12 volt line and the alarm output wire. On the other side, ground one prong and attach the blue wire from the trunk opener to the other prong. If you can wait two weeks, im going to be installing mine and can take any pics you might need.

I've checked with a Honda dealer in Toronto (Canada) and partznet.com. They both told me it was discontinued by Honda. Supposedly, it's an accessory and can be discontinued at any time. It doesn't make sense to me either... as tbaleno said, how are you supposed to fix your accord if it breaks?? I couldn't find it at HandA either.
Edit: I just checked HandA again and it's there.

use the channel 3 or the dark blue wire some dude mentioned above.
the actuator will have two wire, ground and 12volt switch
ground- ground to chasis
use a relay, SPST(find at radioshack $4) or SPDT($1 online)
85-channel 3 or dark blue
86- 12v constant fused
30- 12v constant fused
87- 12volt switch

I would use a single pull double throw relay (SPDT). Also get a trunk pop motor from any car stereo shop that installs alarms.
Install SPDT relay near alarm like so:
Post# 86 to 12+ constant. FUSE this wire!!!! 10 to 15 amps is good.
Post# 85 would hook to the blue wire that is from the alarm
Post# 87 hook to 12v+ with wire from 86
Post# 30 goes to the trunk pop motor.
Run a wire from the relay near the alram to the trunk pop motor in the trunk. The trunk pop motor will have two posts, one comes from the relay from post 30 the other goes directly to ground.
Hope this helps!
