alpine 9830 v 9831
bascially i want to get a new headunit kind of tired of the stock one and would like one to play mp3s, isnt it great christmas is coming up. so is the 9831 worth the 60 bucks more to just change the button color, casue i looked at the comparison between the two and that seems to be like the only difference, is it?

i did on crutchfield and the power outputs and all that are the same that is why i was kind of like thinking thats odd, what am i missing? cause the only thing i noticed was that the colors on hte key pad is variable with the 9831 compared to the 9830 but also i think the display is better then the 9830 but nothign describes it anywhere

I read it and see only one real difference I believe in performance. The 9831 has the I-Personalize function. It's a neat feature that allows you to go online and setup custom sound settings on a cd that matches your car and load it up. Other than that, the display of the 9831 looks better and offers 512 colors to match your dash lights.

Your in California. Work the ebay system. There are plenty of sellers within California. You can go to a powerseller, ask them if pick up is cool. They may even lower the price since you buy it directly from them and with cash. I've done this a few times with a seller called Indoaudio.
And plenty of sellers are local audio shops. Just make sure they are authorized Alpine dealers when you go pick it up. So you were going to buy your cd player off Crutchfield???? Please don't and save your money to buy somewhere else.
If your really worried about warranty, check out cardomain.com. They don't sell alpine, but they have Pioneer. They are really good with warranty issues. The 8600 would be a very comparable model, actually better and would compare better with the 9835. Blaupunkt is also a good quality player. There are many other online stores. Search a bit and you will find plenty. Cardomain.com also does price matches.

yea thanks for the link i guess a lot of places are a lot cheaper, just need to be careful and find one that has a warranty and is in Ca and so forth, but besides the harness and the dash kit, do you need anything else to install it? most peple say a crimp tool or something?
