Did-it-myself under-carpet sound dampening pics (56k beware)
The roll of berberesque from homedepot ($55+tax)
I put down one layer under both the driver and passenger-side carpet and two layers (folded over) under the rear carpet. Everthing fit back very well.

I put two layers down on the trunk
This the finish pic of the trunk (I choose not to use the steel screws to hold down the rear board. I doesn't move on it's own, as the berbereque is very rough.

This port along side the rear seats was just begging to be filled with something...

So it got filled with about 3 sqft of berberesque, folded into a rectangle.

I still have more to do, as I want to pack the side panels and doors, as well as the truck lid. Everything fit back very well, although the center console didn't want to go back in, since it was about 1/4in too high. Brute force and two screws took care of that.

Thanks, Scatman.
I did it to reduce freeway road noise on my commute.
Yes. While it didn't turn the car into a mercedes, it did reduce the volume and pitch of the whirring that I previously got on the freeway, and the car feels more dead when I listen to music at reasonable volume.

You know where I think that stuff would help, I think that hole behind the felt padding in the trunk, on the left and right sides, between the metal bar and the outside body. There's just a gap there right above the wheelwell. I think that'd be a great place to add some sort of sound proofing.
and it's damping.

Yup. That got stuffed too. I was running out of daylight when I did the sides of the trunk, so I just folded the stuff into rectangles and crammed it in. It would have been better to fold it into exactly the shape of the fender/gaps...perhaps later when I finish the truck. (I'm waiting for springs)
