IM ABOUT TO BUY A SUB need help!!! again!
http://www.cbrstereo.com/browseprodu...-S2.400.2.html
as some of you know theres the specs on my amp............ now if i buy the type R 2 ohm DVC, will my amp be too "underpowered"??? my friend said that my amp is way to underpowered to connect to the sub??? will my amp be fine with it or not? they said itll damage the sub? i really want this sub and have the money for it so.........
heres the link to it........ http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WVhwdoi...0&I=500SWR1521
buttttttttt if i get this he 4 ohm SVC............... http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WVhwdoi...0&I=500SWR1521
will it be good for my amp? or will the type r be compatible? i really like my amp guys i dont want to get rid of it.......
and one more question... i am powering an 8-ohm subwoofer SVC right now........ if i get a 2 ohm DVC or 4 ohm SVC will those hit harder than what i am running right now? thanks!

If you want to get technical, there is no such thing as underpowering any speaker. If that was true every speaker would blow unless you had it at full volume.
Why people say that it is bad, is because people tend to be dumb about things. They feel that since the amp is rated lower than what the speaker can handle, then they can't ever blow the speaker. So they crank the amp gains, bass boosts, etc. Eventually the amp will clip and distort, and this is what ends up hurting the sub. People are too ignorant to just turn it down when the amp starts getting stupid.
That being said I have an old pair of Soundstream SPL 12's that I have run off a Soundstream 60x2 amp for about 8 years now. Setup properly you won't have any issues.
The 15" Type-R subs only come in DVC 2 or 4 ohm .... you have to get one or the other.
If you want the most out of your amp get the DVC 2 ohm version, coils wired together in series, and run the amp bridged.
If you plan on getting a different amp later, then I'd maybe suggest the DVC 4 ohm version. Most mono sub amps want to put out max power at 2 ohms. The DVC 4 ohm version wired in parallel is a perfect 2 ohms at the amp. But if you go this way, you will have to wire it in series for you amp, it will be at 8 ohms, and you amp will only be putting out half the rated power to the sub.

Ya know, I've got a couple subs....10" JBL's, 130RMS, and at 30w RMS hooked into the sub for a surround sound system, it blew the amp out of the back, so it's got some power. They need boxes, but they're good....And at 4 ohms, they'd be perfect.
