to my knowledge you aren't even allowed to turn the car on, so for competition purposes, unless you upgrade to super street, an alternator is useless. for daily driving, i'd personally invest in a sealed battery for the trunk, and id definitely upgrade your alternator wire. stock honda wires blow ***.

An HO alternator would be the first thing i would do... How do you think a battery gets its juice, it doesnt matter how big your battery is, in fact the bigger it is the more strain it puts on the stock alternator. Just wait people, those alternators are not that strong. I have been in Car audio for a long time. (about 12 years)

suggested order of upgrade and more importantly, why. alternator comes last.

"It can be harmful if you see your headlights dimming darker, and darker, and darker each time... meaning your battery discharge exceeds your battery's charge time.
That's definitely a sign that your listening habits are warranting an alternator upgrade.."
It all depends on how you use it and how much amperage you are drawing.
This can also be seen if you are running too powerful of an amp for your electrical system.

as to the cost factor of cap versus alternator, its a crapshoot. read the article, It should state that they do different things, and each serves a different purpose. if you are buying a battery to cure dimming, a cap may be an easier alternative, and potentially better able to do the job.
but to those of us who want to watch a movie with the engine off, its much easier to see a cap would be a terrible way to do that!
a little off topic, but thats how I prefer to discern whether or not a battery or capacitor is more or less appropriate.
i'm doing 2700w with stock alternator (2x1200@12v D class + 1x300@12v D class..)
using a stinger 200a isolator, 3 farad cap and a 51R in the trunk..
only voltage drop running is at MAX volume..drops from 14v to maybe 12.5v and light never dim..
was initially worried about an alt. but as of yet see no need to really research it thoroughly
