I considered running 1/0, and I'm in the prewiring stage right now. Planning on running 3 individual 4 ga runs, one each under front seat, and one to trunk for complete flexibility. If I had a final system design in place now, I probably would run a single 1/0. Just my $.02.

Well consider this...

I might be getting an Orion 2500d which has dual 4 awg power terminals. I am going to be running it at 2 ohms for now so I'll get 1700w out of it. Ideally, I should run 1/0 and use a distro to split it into 2x4awg. Since I already have 4awg run, I don't want to rip it out. Do you think I would be okay to just split the 4 awg into 2x4 awg?

According to that it would work...

Hmmmm

I hate having options I am TRYING to get a hookup on a brand Phoenix Gold Xenon 1200.1, but if that doesn't go down in the next few days I am gonna get this Orion 2500d which this thread is about, or if I decided it might be in my best interest not to install that becuase of my small alternator, I might take a Phoenix Gold Titanium 1200.1 as my last option

Well I figure about 178 amps to make full power @ 80% efficiency....seems like a lot for 4awg dont you think?

Why run another 4 when I can run a single 1/0?

I also have 1/0 through the car. Though I ran on the drivers side because my hybrid has the battery on the drivers side.

Its always best to run as big a wire as you can through your car so you can distribute it as needed later. If you only do 4g what happens when you add another amp or two?

Well if you need to (like I might) pull a bigger wire... if you aren't planning on making changes in the near future then why go bigger than you have to, just makes installation easier

I definitely wouldn't run another 4awg, I thought you would be ok to distro it into 2 4s rather than have to make a big deal out of it. If you're going to do anything in the way of the instlall, do the 1/0, I was just saying you probably didn't have to bother

Running another 4 is a lot cheaper then running a 1 to replace your old 4...I have two 4s instead of a 1, but I run a 1 to the fuses for about 12 inches to the fused distro block.

3 4ga wires ...run 1/0ga....then have distributor blocks w/ 4g outlet

1 1/0ga wire will go through the car ALOT EASIER then 3 4ga wires
