speaker sizes...AGAIN

So I went out and bought some Alpine Type R 6.5's and 6 x 9's...and they wouldn't fit into my car. Now I don't really want to cut up my car or anything like that...I want something pretty hasslefree. Any other Alpine speakers I can put into my car? Maybe Type S or something like that? Apparently I need 5 1/4s? Is that true?? Thanks.

p.s I tried asking the sales guys when I bought the speakers....I guess they don't have a clue

I've heard that type S does fit right in.
I think Infinity reference fits as well,
I also think that Infinity kappas fit with a simple 3/4" spacer that you can buy without having to make.

Anyone know if you need to cut for CDT CLs?

They'll fit. Get some MDF (1/2 or 3/4 inch) and cut some spacers out of it. Drill a few holes in the mdf and the corresponding spots on the door panel, screw spacers to door. Hoow up componenet, screw 6.5's to door. Bada bing, bada boom, you got sound.

That is the correct size, around the circumfrance. The mounting depth is what presents a problem with some mids.

the alpine type R 5.25" components will fit the door but just barely.

i had to shave off bits of the basket to make it fit.

i can't buy infinity b/c the store i bought them from doesn't carry them, so i have to exchange for another set of alpines. and yes, i had a thread asking about speaker sizes...so i went and bought some in those sizes, but popcorn player is right...the mounting depth was too big. so yeah, type s 5 1/4? and type s 6 x 9 for rears?
