SQ subs
ok, first of all, I did search, but I still have a couple questions. I have an Audiobahn 12'' Flame Q series sub right now, which I'm trying to sell because I don't listen to rap music anymore. This thing was perfect for rap, but every time I was trying to listen to some rock or trans the punchy bass and those really fast beats killed it. As I was saying this thing's soul purpose is POWER, and I want SQ! I didn't realize it before I bought it, but now I'm looking for 2 10's or 2 12's that can handle the type of music I'm listening to now. I was looking at the W3's v2 and I really like them, but can you guys give me some other options?? My main concern by far is SQ, but I'm not 16 anymore, so I really don't care about being heard from 2 blocks away. PLS help out a fellow 7thgener.
BTW, I'm keeping my Audiobahn A8000T amp, so I'm looking for something in that power range. Thanks!!

the JL's will do good, they have won in SQ
i think my friend has some used mb quarts out of the mbquart demo bmw from 2 or 3 years back...only used at CES and some demos, they are just sitting in his basement.
or i could see about getting you some of these but they would probly be outta range.

HiFonics HZ12 12" Zeus Series
Infinity KAPPA PERFECT 12.1D 12"
Alpine SWR-1241D 12" Type-R
Phoenix Gold XENON 12D4 12"

the only one i have used out of the bunch is the kappa perfect. i had three 10s..they were removed from my car by someone other than me...then i had a single 12. i loved that single 12 in a 1.25 cubic foot box with about 750 watts to it (mtx 2300x). it sounded great on everything from Snoop Dogg to Edwin Mccain. i would reccomend it but i havent compared it to the others listed .

Well, those are just a couple that are in my price range. I'm not looking for the cleanest subs in the world, just something nice worth my money.

IDQ's can be ordered from sound domain for $150, and they were running a 15% off sale w/ free shipping. You can probably get them from ID for around the same price if you can get them to contact you back when you call or e-mail. I'd recommend a pair of 8's or a single 10 of whatever you get. You don't really want a 12 in an SQ type design, though there are 12's that can easily be used in SQ applications, the majority of them aren't under what I percieve as your budget (under $170 ea.). I'd love to recommend a single IDMAX10 here, but again, don't think it'll fit in what I think is your budget.
For trance and rock .... I would think a pair of 10w3's would be pretty good. I wouldn't suggest a 12 at all, a 10" sub at most.
I'd love to try a bunch of 8" drivers in a car, somewhere around 4 or 6 of them. I think it would sound so sweet and be really punchy.
I swapped my 12" Eclipse Aluminum out of my truck for a pair of JL 8w3's and couldn't be happier. The 8's are way punchier and more to my tastes. The 12 had a huge tendency to be overpowering ....
