My sub came in today.
I've been without my sub for over a month after I blew it due to stupidity. I had a 12" Kicker Solo-Baric L5 (the square subs). I called Kicker about it and they told me to send it to them and they would replace it for $93.75. I thought hell yeah since according to Crutchfield they go for $149.00.
Well Kicker told me 2 weeks ago that they were not getting a shipment of their L5s until the middle of next month. I told them that I needed to get my sub back and that they have had it for a month. He told me he would see what he could do and get me my sub as quickly as possible.
I came home today to find a box sitting on my porch. I was extremely happy about what I found inside.

Right now all I have for an amp is a Directed 600d mono amp. so it will have to do for the time being.
Directed 600d

I don't really know much about car audio, but I'm slowly learning, so forgive me for this stupid question, but is my directed 600d a good enough amp for the l7?
I had it hooked up to my l5 only turned up about half way and it would hit hard.
I heard that its actually worse to underpower a sub than to overpower it, so I definitely don't want to do that.

Personally, I wouldn't say 600 watts (assuming that is the power rating) is enough for those subs. They are power hungry and could take 2 of those amps no prob. But for a temp solution sure why not.
At 600 watts rms it should do something. They say it takes double the power to get the sub 3db louder. So if it will do 135db on 600 watts .... then it would only do 138db on a 1200 watt amp.
IMO your 85% there already anyway ...... it should be fine.

Its all a matter of how hard and clean you want it to hit. If the 400w or whatever the directed gives you, doens't hit hard enough for you until you up it and distort, you need more clean power. If you are satisified and its clean, rock on.
