Well I ordered the Pioneer DEH-P8600
why didn't you get the Premier version, the DEH-P860MP??
its only 15 dollars more and you get 6.5V preamp outputs. That's the one I got...
Anyways, hope you enjoy it. It's a really nice deck.

The problem could be that the aftermarket speakers have a lower sensitivity than stock. This means that the stock speakers could take less power to react than the aftermarket ones. I use Alpine Type-S in my doors partially because of their high sensitivity making them good for internal deck power. If you used speakers with very low sensitivity, then they wouldn't sound quite the same or go quite as loud as speakers with a higher sensitivity. The stock speakers are designed more towards using deck power whereas your Pioneer's are probably designed to use amplifier power.
Make any sense?

The speakers do sound really good, they just have poor bass response. I'm hoping they sound better once I get my new deck. I'm glad i only got them in the front and didn't put them in the back, too, because then my bass would be completely gone. But the high frequency difference between these speakers and the stock speakers in the rear is amazing!

There is kind of a nice review at sounddomain.com comparing the alpine 9835 and the pioneer 860. I like the pioneer myself, but from some experience and word of mouth, the Alpine on average usually sounds better, while the Pioneer sounds good after some experienced adjustments. That was also the gist of the review, plus how the pioneer has better mp3 playback, while the alpine is a better performer.

I do use folders in my mp3 cds for my 750. One thing I wish my deck can do is browse through songs without the music stopping. I can browse folder to folder fine, but when you want to browse through the tracks in the folder. Music stops.
I also read in other audio forums that the new pioneer 8600 has a glitch with the browse function. LIke you said, after you browse and select a song, you cannot skip to the next or previous track without starting from the very first folder. Also, another thing people don't like about the 8600 is that it does not have an easy access pause button or attenuator button.

I've never paused my music before in the car. I guess I just turn the radio on if I want to pause it. Is there a pause button on the remote?
I heard you can browse tracks while the current one is playing one one review.
The browsing glitch doesn't affect regular (non-.mp3) cds, does it?

well, that's the problem........if ur files are sorted with directories, and like what said, when ur "surfing" into the directories.......and u want to re-"browse" the cd, it'll always go back to the root directory!
You CAN go to the next/previous track by pushing the right **** to the right/left, u can also move between the directories with pushing the right **** up and down.........
however, things gonna screw up once you rotate the ****, that IS, ur entering the browse mode...which suppose to help you browsing the cd...
IronFist, this problem affects both mp3 and non mp3 CDs......same thing happened if u got 18~20 tracks on ur audio CD.....hopefuly u won't get pissed by this glitch..

So wait, if I have a store bought cd and I'm listening to track 4 and I want to listen to track 5 instead I can't just hit the advance track button once?

Good. It would be annoying if I was on track 4 and I wanted to get to track 5 and I had to hit track advance 5 times.

You can move to the next track easily by I believe turning the ****. I do no believe you will have this glitch problem with normal cds because you can not browse these cds. If you go through the options menu by pressing the right **** and turning it to the browse folders section, that would be how you browse folders and something you probably won't use in your 20 track cds at most.
In my 750, I do not even have the option of using the browse function for normal cds, only mp3s will alow me to browse for folders. So I do not believe you will have that annoying function.
Dang man, get into the mp3 thing. It's a smooth transfer. It will be like having a huge cd changer in your car. Just rip all your favorite cds into mp3 format at like either 190kbps or even 320kbps and you won't even be able to tell a drop in sound quality. You will be able to have atleast 6 of your favorite cds on one mp3 cd.
