Would you buy a deck off of eBay?

Hmm, I was reading some reviews of different "discount" stores at epinions.com, and a lot of them sound really bad. So then I realzed that eBay has awesome prices on a bunch of deck, such as the Pioneer DEH-P8600MP, but then I'm like "whoa, that has shady written all over it."

So, would you feel safe buying from someone with good feedback in the thousands a $500 deck for $320 or so? Would the company be likely to honor the warranty, etc.?

I'm talking about this auction specifically. His feedback looks good, right? What do you think?

Oh, I'm talking about NEW decks.

Thanks.

best thing I can say is to read the feedback for the seller, I got my from ebay alpine 9831 where they have on big sale in good guy for 399$. Well I got mine around 280$ include shipping, what ya think? Heard that alpine don't cover warranty with stuff buying online, lucky that mine work out good.

i'll buy almost anything from ebay, but i always look at the seller's feedback.. if they have a significant amount of negative feedback, i'll read it, and then decide whether or not to buy from them... if a seller has negative feedback, half the time its the buyer bitching about some petty thing..

NO. Stolen decks go on ebay, or they lie about it.

^ $2 cheaper, no.

$180 cheaper, yes.

I agree, tho. I don't want to be buying anyone's stolen stuff.

Actually Fist, that is the exact dealer cost. I was looking into buying one of those, and I got to know the Pioneer rep in Wisconsin, when I was working installing radios, and I called him up for a price, and thats pretty much where it was at Dealer cost. And im betting if you buy more at a time, like a palate, Poneer will sell them cheaper. I'm sure the auction is fine, everyone has friends to kick up their feedback, but 5,000+ Can't be wrong. Besides, Pioneer has a killer warranty, you can get anything warrantied as they have the manufactured date/year on the unit. If in doubt, as for a recent production date, that way you know you have warranty.

To reiterate, It's legit. Dealer Cost.

It's amazing the markup on these things in the stores, their best Amps cost no more than $120 Dealer... Insaine

P.S. If he has A LOT of Pioneer stuff, he could be a pioneer dealer who isn't autohrized to sell online, but is doing so anyways under an assumed personal account.

When buying electronics off eBay, I always ask...

Refurbished, refreshed, factory serviced, or anything along the lines of it being not brand new?
B-stock, b-good, or anything along those lines of being lower quality?
Are you an authorized dealer?
Warranty through you, though the manufacturer, or no warranty?

I scored a Kicker DX350 off eBay for a low price, and the seller was an authorized dealer in California. I checked him on Kicker's website, he was legit. He even gave me a receipt saying that they installed it, so I got a three year manufacturer's warranty instead of one year.

I got a pioneer premier MP3 player about a year ago off ebay . . . with 5,000+ feedback he's probably a dealer. I wouldn't worry at all buying from them, and I don't see how that auction has "shady written all over it". If you look at his feedback profile he's selling about 10-15 decks a day . . .
