Amp install

I want to re-install my amp in my trunk and I have an idea how i want to do it.Right now its just sitting on the floor but what I want to do is hang it from the metal near the speakers to get it off the floor.Does anyone have any idea what kind of brackets I could use or how I would do this?

got to home depot and buy the 2" alluminum flat bar, they're selling it for about 4bucks a pop for 4' but I bought the 1" one and I can virtually use it for anything... easy to bend too...

though you have to reconsider that there's a metal spring that holds the trunks weight... convert your trunk spring to shocks then mounting your amp to the metal would be possible search on thread or DIY "trunk shocks installation"

Bad idea, that will prevent the amp from cooling properly and your amp could overheat or worse...

Maybe build a panel on the side of the trunk and mount the amp on there? Just a thought...

Yeah, you don't want to mount your amp upside down, especially with no air above it. The heat will just accumulate...

Unless you are planning on putting a fan in there, too. In which case it might be ok.

you wouldn't want to mount it on metal for heat reasons and you might short out since the metal is connected to the chassis of the car and that is the ground.

why not mount it on the back of your seat...buy some plywood to slide underneath the carpet and then mount the amp there

O.K. What I did is I bought some metal pipeand secured it from the frame of the car where the speakers are.On the medal pipes I slapped a small piece of carpeted mdf.So now its hanging from the frame so it looks like its sitting in mid air with the back end a little higher than the front.

Instead of MDF you could use some plexiglass and mount the amp on that . . . then it would REALLY look like it was floating. A shop here in Austin did that to an SUV and it looks awesome

Back on topic, you really don't want to mount your amp upside down.
