CD Player Overheating when heat on

last night i was cruizing around blasting music on my stock system and heater on full blast....about an hour into the cruize i got a h0t error and the cd just would not play i removd the cd and the cd was VERY hot...i felt around the cd player compartment and that area was VERY heated. i dunno what caused this....the heat was running very nicely(full blast and very warm) and the car was comfy warm. however, i then pulled into a tim hortons and shut off the car for about 5 minutes returned and blasted the a/c to see if it would cool down the cd player unit or whatever. and it worked.

i was wondering if this was normal or should i go see honda about this?

it's ridiculous that the cd player unit would heat up because i had the damn heater on blast ....what happens in the winter time?..lol!

btw it was about 15degrees outside at the time....so it's not like the entire car overheated.

Umm the heater gets very hot and honda put the vents right behind the stereo. My aftermarket deck actually has a small fan, but still I wouldn't trust that. You could try and put some thermotec heat wrap around the vents behind there. Sounds extreme, but I bet it would keep the heat inside the vents more.

Like gearbox's HUm you could put in a little computer fan on the back to try help. Is this a stock HU? If so, go complain

btw, gearbox: i saw you at meijers the other day and, i saw you walking outside the union two fridays ago

Edit: i just reread and see that you're on a stock system. Maybe take it to the dealership and ask them about it.

Considering there actually IS a heat error, then maybe Honda knows this is capable of happening. Complain sure, but there probably isn't much that can be done

Did you have it all pointing through the vents? If so maybe you could make it point some to the vents and some to the feet or defrosters.

Re: CD Player Overheating when heat on

try what was mentioned above, press the vent/floor combo button so not all the heat comes thru the vents. otherwise take it out and wrap insulation around the vent plumbing.
