Absolutly not. Never buy anything from pyramid. There products are knock offs and of very poor quality and never realy produce what they advertise.
Another thing to note is that some recomend getting a better battery than using a cap. This of course has been debated by both sides over and over.
However, If you want to buy a cap go with a real brand like stinger, lightning audio, audiobahn, rockford, Phoenix gold, etc. The quality and price will vary but even the worst of the bunch will work.
I must reiterate though. NEVER BUY ANYTHING PYRAMID. If the price is low there is a reason.

Sorry man it's no good, I'd rather tell you it's crap than have you spend your money and find out the hard way.
Capacitors are SUPPOSEDLY designed to give your system a quick jolt of power when it needs it. They do work fine for that but they do need to charge and they will bog down your electrical system after that, especially if it KEEPS drawing a lot of power and can't charge quickly. I have a capacitor (1 farad) and HAD the stock battery and I had a lot of dimming, so I upgraded to a battery designed for high powered audio systems and it's all but gone unless I REALLY want to put it under a heavy load, in which case it's STILL not near as bad as it was.
Long story short, if you really want to give your system a good source of power, install a proper battery.
If you want the cheap solution, the rule of thumb is .5 farad of capacitance for every 500 watts. That is .5 for 500 watts, 1.0 for 1000, 1.5 for 1500 and so on.

Well wire is pretty much wire. Its probaby not ofc wire (oxygen free copper) but Its not like it can't pass current at all.
Don't worry about your wire being pyramid. Its not the end of the world. I was mostly talking about electronics like amps and caps and speakers.
The next step you might want to do is to increase the guage of the wire going to your alternator from the + terminal, and from the ground terminal to both the engine and chassis. This will help the charging system and could also help reduce dimming.

You would have been better off to just cut your own wires for the ground kit, but with the money you saved from not buying the capacitor, why not I guess

Well the problem with the average person trying to DIY a ground kit is if you don't have a large set of crimpers it can be very hard to make good connections. When you are doing 4 awg you need to crimp with a large crimping tool (or solder which takes forever) otherwise it will never stick... doing it with 8 isn't so bad becaues you can still use standard wire strippers but it can be a bit difficult and unreliable

Well let's get back to the topic at hand... why were you looking for a capacitor in the first place? To charge and touch your tounge to the terminals?

Yeah and if you REALLY have the money get a good alternator as well.... get a large enough alternator and you can run anything you like

ok sounds good...thanks for your help
while your at it replace the RCAs that came with the pyramid wiring kit. Those DO make a difference.
And I probably don't have to tell you this but run power down one side of the car and rcas down the other.
OH, and for real fun talking about car audio check out www.sounddomain.com and on the bar at the top right you will see live chat. Go there. Tons of people talking about car audio all day and late into the night.

I run a Yellow top Optima and 0 gauge wire to a 1 farad cap and it seems pretty sufficent. Next on my list is the altenator though. I can't seem to find one under $200.
