XM or Sirius
Try to find an audio shop that has the ability to allow you to listen to both XM and Sirius in your car. So you can chose which one sounds better.
I like the XM because it sounded better in my car. The Sirius Company claimed, at the dealer introduction conference, that the bandwidth of the signal is larger than XM which produces better sound quality. After installing both in my car I noticed the XM produced a more dynamic sound stage. Sony (XM) and Panasonic (Sirius) were the units that I tested. I also routed the inputs straight into the amplifier with a potentiometer. I did not run the inputs through another player with FM mod or aux.
But dynamic sound was what I was looking for, I was not thinking of programming at the time.
One month ago I converted the outputs into digital coax. The quality of the sound is not a match to a good CD.
Now, bad recordings are more noticeable and good recording come alive.

Get Sirius.. Hands down.....More Stations. Better quality......if you want go to there web page and try it out for free for 3 days. i did.....xm sucks compard to it......i dont have eather. but i would get sirius if i has to choose......try it........
P.s The sound quality totaly depends on the head unit you purchase. sony is an xm only company....go w/ kenwood .....they specilize in car audio...sony its only "ok" because they dont specilze in sound.....kenwood does...like Bose.. would you choose a crappy theater system over a Bose??....i dought it.

btw, alpine has a headunit with build in XM. all thats needed is an antenna for xm and subsription. i have an alpine deck 9820 or 9825 and when i got it, no xm for it. either way, im gonna wait till they come out with xm and sirius built in only requiring antenna and subscription.

Wow, are you praising bose? Bose is average sound for twice the price. Guess you believe the marketing and have never heard the phrase 'no highs, no lows, must be bose'?
And I'm sorry, but Kenwood is not any better then Sony, unless you are talking about their Excelon line, and even then they dont hold up very well. The best sound quality will come from a deck with a direct tuner. The best decks with sat. controllers are going to come from alpine (both), pioneer(xm) or clarion(sirius).

sirius rocks. has the best sq, best selection and there are even plans to add video in the future. I am running a kenwood ddx-7015 (double-din dvd player) and the deck is freaking awesome. just wish i could find the nav system for cheap. kenwood has one of the best in this area.

believe me bro, sirius is a necessity. only those without say otherwise. ipods cant bring you new hits, unreleased tracks, weather, news, etc, etc.i personally have a 4.5GB DVD filled with mp3s and still listen to sirius constantly.

^^ yup! I keep a pen and paper in my car so when I hear new songs on my XM I can download them later to take to the gym with my iPod since Gold's Gym plays CRAP!
I'll be adding sirius soon...Alpine owns with support for both!
