Correctly Tuning Car Audio Systems

I was wondering how to correctly tune car audio, like the amps & the subs. I currently have:

Amp is: Rockford Fosgate 301S
Subs are: Two Kicker CompVR 10''
Head Unit: CDA-9825 with a built in crossover.

Now the headunit crossover for bass is set to 200, and I have the dial on the Fosgate amp set to 200 hertz. The mids and highs are ran off of a Kicker 150.4 nothing powerful there, but the headunit is set to 17.5 khz i believe, don't know off the top of my head. Is there a good way that I could tune this to sound even better? I dont think that it's up to what it could be.

Thanks in advance!

Use your lowpass x-over to lowpass the subs between 80-120hrtz (I think 90hrtz would be good). Then use the highpass filter on you speakers at between 80-120hrtz (90 hrtz would also probably be good).

Now would this be on the head unit or on the actucally amps for the subs?

If you have a good deck, it will have crossover points. I have my speakers only playing notes above 80Hz, and the sub only playing notes lower than 125Hz. Other than that, you really need an equalizer to adjust the sound better.

Always use the ones on the amp first, because headunit ones are usually not the greatest (atleast with Kenwood decks)

Now would this be for the Amp for the Subs and then the amp for the mid's highs? Or would you recommend do it on the head unit and the amps? Because right now i think my amp is set up to 200hertz, and 17.5 khertz.

that would be both. lowpass= for subs, higpass= for highs. so subs play below 80-100Hz and fronts play above it. theres no way you have your fronts set for 17.5k, i don't know where you got that number

Yeah, something is way of...only set on the amps for crossovers...but make EQ adjustments on the HU AFTER you set your crossovers. The subs should be 90 and below, and the mids should be 90 and above.

Now for the highs, that will get some of the bass through right, so that I have some mids? I'll go out there right now and read what the crossovers are on the HU it self.

Well on the head unit it self, click on center twice to where you can increase the treble & bass, and if you push cd next or previous it changes the cross over, the settings are 10.0k 12.5k & 17.5k. Not sure tho. I would assume it would be best to figure out if I can turn off the crossover built into the headunit, I figure that if I'm using the crossover & **** on the amps themselves I wouldn't need to use the ones on the actual head unit.

OK, Here's from the instruction manual:

Press the center f button to bring up the bass Center frequency control.

Settings are: 60Hz - 80Hz - 100Hz - 200 Hz

Press the center f button again to bring up the treble Center frequency control.

Settings can be: 10.0kHz - 12.5kHz - 15.0 kHz - 17.5kHz

Now, should I set the bass to 80Hz and the crossover on the amp to 90Hz? My amp will go from 60 - 140 I believe.
