Aftermarket HU & Antenna

I bought a Alpine CDA-9825 a while back, in Feb. Since I've installed it, I've never had any Antenna reception. My car is a 2003 Honda Civic LX, with the Antenna built into the window. I wouldn't think that there is a power antenna connector for it. But the antenna connection is in there.

Is there a power antenna connector I must conect to? I've looked over all the wiring I've done and it looks fine, and not a big deal, I'd just like to have radio every once in a while, incase I forget my CD's or something.

Thanks in advance!

There should have been a wire that needs to be plugged into the back of the HU. Not part of the harness, but a separate plug.

Might also want to check the power antenna wire. There's some threads on here about it.

From what I've gathered so far, the power antenna doesn't work with aftermarket HU's, so you need to tap a switched power source into the power antenna power to make it work

WHY the power antenna doesn't work with aftermarket HU I do not know, but apparently it doesn't.

Check the factory plug and see if there are any pins that are not on the aftermarket harness

Well, I looked at all the wires that go to the stereo and there are none that have been left un hook to another wire. The only wire's that aren't actually connected to anything is the dimmer wire, because I don't have one on my Alpine HU.

Would it be a power antenna, because it is in the window, I believe, I can't seem to find it anywhere else.

Another thing, is I could first turn on the car and it'll work for a few minutes, but after a few minutes, it just goes all static.

Yellow/green wire on the vehicle's harness is the power antenna wire. Works fine using the power antenna lead from the head unit, but is not on any current adapter harnesses.

Hook a wire from the yellow/green to the blue wire on the head unit.

So splice the Yellow/Green adapter from the original Honda wiring and connect it to the Blue wire? Now blue I believe is the remote on for my Amps, but that still make work!

Yeah the yellow/green is probably a turn on lead for the powered antenna

Even though the antenna is in the back window, there's still a power antenna wire.

it's a powerED antenna as opposed to a power antenna

that would kind of confuse some of us a bit

But the only color my connecto has on the back of the head unit is a blue/white wire not a plain blue wire, and the blue/white wire is the remote on!

thats fine... as long as it's the remote wire, you can just connect it to the yellow/green

Make sure you are looking for the yellow/green wire that comes from the original car harness.....trace back as far as you can visually see where the wires behind your head unit come from....you'll find the yellow/green one

my g/fs car had an extra antenna on the front windshield, that one was powered. It seems like the powered ones do get better reception.

I say find a switched wire and splice it in at the antenna not at the back of the deck, it might be a lot easier
