Fuses and stereo
OK guys this has been boggling my booze-and-weed-addled mind for several weeks now. So some time ago, I contacted several car audio places and asked for opinions on various decks cause it appeared my deck had finally kicked the bucket - sound was cutting in and out of the speakers, but the deck was continuing to read CD's, meaning it wasn't skipping, just the output was messed. The places I called told me it would take a repair that was likely more than a new mp3 deck would cost. I actually trusted their advice, cause my car audio guy would have sold to me at cost anyway, not like he would have made money off selling me a new deck. But I digress...
So on the way to my gf's place to check out yet another car audio place for a deck, I noticed my dome lights were dead...my swearing was a lot more audible cause the sound was still cutting out. Turns out when I removed my trunk neon while setting up my custom trunk the night before I'd shorted a connection in there somewhere, blowing the fuse. Anyway, when I got to her house, I replaced the dome light fuse under the hood, and on the way to the car audio place, I found that all the sound output problems were gone. I'm in fact still going strong, the output never died once since then.

So now my question - has anyone ever heard of this happening, where sound output from an aftermarket deck (wired perfectly with a Metra harness, all wire connections soldered and shrinkwrapped) would be affected by a blown DOME light fuse? Just seems weird to me, logically the two should be totally independent. And if they weren't, you'd figure the output or deck would be totally dead, not intermittent like I had. Weird.
