blown amp questions

what exactly happens when an amp is "blown"? and can it be repaired? or is a blown amp just an expensive paperweight?

Blown amps can be repaired, but it can be pricey if it's not under warranty, and it all depends what's wrong too...

like would it be pricy enough to just go out and buy another amp? what im looking at particularly is a rockford punch 360.2 (180 Watts x 2 RMS @ 2 ohms / 90 Watts x 2 RMS @ 4 ohms) and whenever i turn it on the protect light turns on for like 5 seconds then it blows my 30 amp inline fuse.
(btw they are going for around $100 on ebay)
