I have heard and read many amaziing audio bass stories...and now I have a cool one of my own!
So today I was at dj02's house to get some springs installed on my car. After they were installed I played my system for him and VNlilman. I turned my soundz up and played a few songs. I turned up my remote gain and the bass was booming amazingly hard...it was so hard that my front windshield was actually moving!!!! Vn said that my windshield was moving...and I didn't realize it was my windshield because I thought it was my dirty glasses that I was seeing move, because they vibirate on my nose when the bass is up...When I realized that it was moving I was like DAMN!!!
I have never seen anything like that before...especially in a small civic.
anywayz, I was amazed!!! I have seen my sunroof bounce up and down and my roof dent...but damn, to see the winshield moving...I can't wait to tell my grandkids!!!! ..I'm just glad nothing was damaged in my car or my hearing

Being deaf does not necessarily make you mute
My windshield moves quite a bit as well, I think it's all in the design of the body that it does that. Personally, I don't like it, I don't like anything to move if it doesn't have to.

Your windshield moves because of your roof flexing... If you really wanna see some crazy flex look in the middle where the windshield and roof meet up... now THAT's some serious flexing

Use the new Termlab or AC sensor mic, not the OG one, the sensor is way more accurate, you'll love it.
What amp do you have pushing it? Any pics of your setup? etc etc...
hey, there are dBdrags in fresno all the time this season, they jsut got the new meter at team radio club (i think) modesto definitely has it though.
there was a show two weeks ago, so there should be some shows coming up in a week or tow, if you wanna get metered. the current record ive personally seen with a pair of idmax was 140 dB on the new mic with 1200 rms. think you can beat that? id love to watch your run. and hear your car.

There is supposed to be an NSPL comp in Moreno Valley on August 3rd...I am thinking about trying out both beginner SQ and SPL. Fresno is WAY too far for me, but I am gonna try some local beginner class comps and see how badly I get spanked
Honestly though, it seemed a lot louder when i had the 2 ported...but it drowned out my highs too much. I will try the comp sealed...and if I do really bad I will go ported the next time.
...one thing that is kinda worrying me though is that ever since I played it loud on Saturday my ear has been bothering me a lil...right now it is doing this fluttering thing that feels like a lil bass note...which is why i usually don't bump my ish that loud....and also I get super shaky too.
WR, I am gonna need some pointers before the comp since I have never really seen one before...both SPL and SQ...like what songs do i playfor SQ...and what not for SPL...and what generally happens during the comp.
thx

...this was the ported set-up...which was why I think is just about the optimum position to place subs in my trunk for strong output...

...it was a bitch to put in and pull out though, and it gave me NO trunk space.

for SQ youll want pics of your wiring, maybe the build process, stuff the judge cant see, basically. no need to take a pic of the engine bay, he will see that for himself! He is checking for safety and cleanliness. what you cant see needs to be as clean as what you can! when teh install judge goes through your car, youll basically present your vehicle to him. so it needs to be jsut as clean as a show car. I got docked for having dirt between my trunk lid and trunk, even! I got docked for stupid small stuf,f like having the radio in the center console, he called that "poor ergonomics" batteries terminated and insulated, etc, etc, etc.
you never play it. the listening judge will get in the caer with his CD and do his own thing. you jsut tune it as best you can. I love SQ, they give you all sorts of tips on improving the stereo, making it that much better. the local iasca judge for installs here will ream yoru car out, so beware if you get the same guy for nspl, hes not mean, but damn, he will dock you every chance he can get!
for spl (and other guys here can give you better tips for this than me) tones. tones, tones, tones. find yoru peak frequency using a tone disk, one thats a straight tone, no sweeping, no pulsing, just BWAAAAAAAAAA
turn it on, mute it, pause it, then turn the volume to max. drive up the lane, done reve past 2 or 3000, whtever the limit is, and when they say go, you got 30 seconds. BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPP
when you are done, youll turn off the car, they take the mic out, and you drive awya. when you start your car, remmeber that its still turned up and ready to go! so when you start hte car, jump on that, i cant tell you how often a car starts to exit the lanes and burps again. youll see, just wait!
and dont forget to have fun, people may come up to you and ask what you have, or ask for a demo, feel free to walk up to strangers and do the same! its great fun!

Cool!
I am worried about the wiring thing though...cause i have a few visable (especially in the trunk)...but i will see how things go and see what they suggest.
I need to find some good test tones...all I have is Bass Mekanik, and it goes in and out because it is a stereo sine.
When the contest is going on do people wear ear protection?
