I just got and installed my Alpine 9833. There is supposed to be a feature where the HU can list the FM station names and info, but I can't make it work. WTF?

I have the 9833. Isn't it that you can input the name of the station and it remembers it? I'm not too sure about whether it will list the names otherwise.

i have an old kenwood...it uses RDS. only two or three stations broadcast the info for it to pick up.

I've got the 9831 and i don't think they pick up the station broadcast name. Just like said above, i think you program it to remember a name you give to the station. Which kinda sucks, cause i would like to be able to read that info as well, even my moms nissan quest stock radio reads that info but mine can't.

I have a 9835, and it doesnt do that. You can input the station name, but it wont pick it up. And like they said above, not many stations broadcast it anyway. Just get XM.

When a bunch of my friends and I went to a bball tournament in Pittsburg, the caravan we rented listed the radio station names AND song titles. It looked like a stock radio and EVERY radio station was tagged (Kiss 108, JAMn 94.5, WBCN 104.1 ...etc). So it definitely wasn't programmed in. If I were to get a cd deck, I'd definitely want something like that.

some stations do it, some don't. rds is what it's called, some around here even tell you the song and artist.
