rockford p162s

In my front speakers I am running a: (just installed today)

Rockford 6-1/2" 2-Way 120W Component Car Speakers with Polypropylene Cones Model: P162S (60 w rms)

from a kenwood head unit mp3 player

The problem is i don't notice much of a difference. my new 6x9's in the back sound great, but I can't tell the difference between my front component. Where front speakers like this made to be amped? and am i hurting them at all by not amping them (yet ).

And what is everyone's opinion on rockfords??? it seems like everyone has alpines around here...

Well first of all, It is very hard to get good sound in a car, it may sound good in the store but crap in the car. The rockfords are ok and I don't think you really need an amp on them. Try not to fade to the rear and instead fade to the front and balance to the right a little.

i'll agree with some of that. i've heard jensen speakers sound sweet in that box on the wall. and i'll agree that he doesn't NEED an amp. but putting gobs of clean power to your front speakers can make a world of difference, and make you forget how you liked those 6x9's. i don't remember ever hearing someone who regretted amping their components over running off the deck
